ABOUT UDAAN

Helping learners stay in school and move forward.

Udaan is a school support platform designed to help learners stay engaged in education. It brings attendance, learning progress, reported barriers, and support plans into one workspace, helping teachers, families, NGOs, and education teams identify needs and coordinate follow-up. The aim is timely, practical support before a short-term difficulty leads to a prolonged absence or withdrawal from school.

01

Why Udaan exists

Attendance alone rarely explains why a learner misses school. Financial pressure, unsafe or lengthy travel, learning gaps, and responsibilities at home can all affect participation. Udaan helps educators consider these circumstances alongside school records, discuss them with learners and families, and agree on an appropriate response. It is particularly relevant to communities where access to education and support services is limited.

02

What Udaan enables

  • Identify needs early. Review attendance, academic progress, and reported barriers to prioritize supportive conversations.
  • Plan practical support. Record transport, tutoring, scholarship, or family-support plans with a responsible person, goal, and review date.
  • Keep families involved. Make progress and next steps easier to understand, with space for family context and follow-up.
  • Connect with local resources. Help schools and partner organizations identify support suited to a learner’s needs.
  • Review progress. Track attendance, plan activity, resource use, and feedback to guide adjustments.
03

Where it can be introduced

Udaan is intended for middle and secondary schools, school clusters, NGO education programs, community learning centers, and block or district education teams. Designed with rural India in mind, the concept can also be adapted for underserved urban and semi-urban communities. Mobile access, English and Hindi navigation, and offline access to previously loaded content support exploration in settings with limited devices or intermittent connectivity.

04

A shared approach to learner support

Udaan brings the people around a learner into a common process: understand the need, agree on support, and review what happens next. Teachers contribute school context, families share the circumstances behind attendance and learning, and local partners help identify practical options. Clear responsibilities and regular follow-up keep the learner at the center of every decision.
